The Problem

The predominate bacteria in all human and animal waste is faculative (switches between anaerobic and aerobic). The typical Septic Tank condition is Anaerobic, this means there is not a good supply of air and oxygen.

The Anaerobic state is less than ideal for several reasons:

• Anaerobic bacteria produce foul smelling hydrogen sulphide gag (H2S) which can be poisonous in quanitites over 10ppm
